About

Chelsea focuses on the way that movement can transform lives and communities. Having spent time training with and learning from athletes around the world—from Prospect Park to the streets of Berlin to the highlands of Ethiopia, she understands that movement and wellness are valuable tools for self expression just like other cultural pursuits.  Former gymnast turned long distance runner, she has also trained extensively with Kettlebells, TRX, bodyweight exercise, Pilates and Yoga and has over 6 years of experience training clients both in person and virtually. She graduated from New York University’s Gallatin School, is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Certified Nutritionist and is certified in pre and post-natal training.

I’ve been working with Chelsea for almost a year and a half and it’s made such a wonderful difference in my fitness and overall sense of wellbeing. 

 

My focus has been on functional strength training in support of running, which I restarted in adulthood. In our first sessions, I was very nervous, having never done any significant training at a gym in the past. Chelsea immediately made me feel at ease and supported. She’s friendly, thoughtful and a good listener, who is great at interpreting my goals into concrete actions. She’s built a personalized program over the last 15 months where I’m truly amazed at what I’m able to do now. This past fall, she created a run + strength program which I used to prepare for the NYC marathon, and I ran a sub-4 as a first time marathoner. 

 

Most importantly though, I’m someone who now genuinely enjoys going to the gym. I look forward to working with her, from chatting with her, to working hard, to learning something new. Her deep experience really comes through in knowing how to push me forward at a perfect level. Every session, a tiny voice in the back of my head says “this is too hard!”, and it would win if I were by myself. But in reality, it’s not too hard, I can do it! That feeling at the end of an hour, when I’ve done something challenging, makes me feel so accomplished and happy every time. Not only has working with her made a difference in my fitness, but it’s made a huge, positive impact on my mental health and confidence. I love working with her and am so grateful for her encouragement and expertise.
